In 2016, voters in D.C. voted in overwhelming approval of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s (D) proposal to make D.C. a state. Yet more than two centuries since it was first founded, the capital city still does not have the rights of a U.S. state.
Nonetheless, D.C. residents have immense pride for their rich history and culture — they show it through their music, their art, their food and their fashion. In this issue, we wanted to celebrate local designers and their work. We partnered with five local designers and brands to showcase the creativity and style of the District. As you turn the pages, you will see a diversity of styles and models, each with a singular purpose — showing pride for the history and diversity of D.C.
